The women are paid more than minimum wage and are given healthcare benefits and pensions, so they can adequately provide for their families. Handmade in the Himalayas, these beautiful, top quality woollen accessories are just so special in so many ways! Not only do their lovely autumnal colours (perfect for mixing and matching) and unusual designs exude a wonderful `joie de vivre' but they also help to supplement the subsistence income of small farmers in Nepal who knit when the daily work is finished or slow. By supplying year round orders to the knitters they are assured regular and reliable income. The Maya Hoody and felt accessories are produced as part of a fair trade project in a unit in Kathmandu. This product has been supplied by an importer who is a member of BAFTS. All the woollen items in this range can be machine washed on a wool cycle or handwashed in luke warm water.
